A Busy Two Weeks in Hot and Muggy Southern California and Beyond

Meanwhile, back in Las Vegas . . .

After spending the start of the week with our Rio Mesa H.S. friends at the Flamingo Hotel, we moved across town to the home of young Kevin and his parents Jenn and Andy for another four days in the desert heat.

As usual, food was a big part of our visit.

We just had to support his culinary efforts.

 His bread pudding was incredible

as was everything we tried on his menu

I was asked to attend

Coach Bob Richards' get together

with his 1986 C.I.F. Championship

football team at Thousand Oaks H.S.

They only lost one game that year, 7-6 to our Westlake H.S. squad.

  

 The first year that I coached was 1970

with the Thousand Oaks JV team

Bob was the Head Coach and I was his one and only assistant.

We went 7-2 that year.

I went on a hike with

Martha Jimenez-Ito in the

wilderness of Moorpark 

It was SCORCHING!

Mike showed a ton of patience coaching these five year olds.

I think they both had fun

We celebrated a belated

2nd birthday for granddaughter

We were in Las Vegas on her actual birthday.

She had fun blowing out her candles

She was excited by the taste

of these pink peeps

 I fly to Mexico City tomorrow

to help coach the Europe Warriors

in our game against the UNAM Pumas

According to my Lonely Planet Guide to Mexico, the University that is famed for its murals employs 38,000 teachers to instruct the 330,000 students that call UNAM their alma mater.

Yes, 330,000 is correct.

They are expecting 20,000 fans to attend our game in the on campus Estadio Olympico that seats 72,000.
